Frequently asked questions

Bass Transcriptions

Do you do bass transcriptions?

Yes! We work with professional bassists who will take care of your bass transcription: including the tab, sheet music, rhythms, and chord symbols if needed.

What are the different ways to transcribe a song for bass?

Bass music can be transcribed in various ways:

  1. TAB only – Tablature notation indicates the instrument fingering only. It displays the different strings of the instrument and includes the fret number and rhythm of the notes rather than the actual musical pitches.
  2. Sheet music only – Sheet music notation includes the musical notes written on a musical staff. Sheet music will indicate the pitches and rhythms to be played.
  3. TAB and sheet music – We will combine both the tablature and the sheet music notation so that you can read both at the same time.
  4. Vocal lead sheet or chord chart – These include chord symbols with you can follow to improvise your own bassline.

You can see all these different formats in the samples above. Also, if you have questions, please ask us and our customer specialist will help you find the best way for you.

I just started playing bass in a band, can you help me figure out this bassline?

Certainly! We will provide you with a bass tab transcription so you can play the correct bass line with them.

Can you include chord symbols?

Indeed! Let us know if you need them so that we can provide you with the best price quote.

Do you include the tab?

Yes! We can send you the tab only, or tab with sheet music, so that you can learn the correct fingering.

I like this bass line but it's very hard to hear. Will you be able to transcribe it?

Definitely! Our bass experts are excellent at their job and will be able to get every single note. They can even create the bass tab to provide you with the fingering of the bass part.

I want the bass line of a full music album transcribed. Will I get any discount?

Yes, for requests of three or more songs you will get a 10% discount.

How much does a bass transcription cost?

Our prices depend on the length and complexity of the music. When evaluating the price of a bass transcription, we listen out for the speed, density of notes, rhythmic and harmonic complexity, and repeats. Send us a link or audio file of the solo you want us to transcribe and we’ll send you an accurate price quote.

You can find some more pricing information here.

If I only want a portion of the song, do I have to pay the full price?

No. If you only want a portion of the song, let us know what timestamps you want and we will adjust the price quote for you – we won’t charge the cost of transcribing the full song.

I love this song but it is too difficult for me. What can we do?

Don’t worry, we can make an easier version exclusively for you! We can simplify the music for you and accommodate the transcription to your playing level.

Can you create a bass version of any song? Can you create a bass version of a song played by another instrument?

Yes! If the song you want to play is not originally written for bass, there’s nothing to worry about! We can create a bass cover for you.

Can you do a video tutorial for me so that I can learn how to play the piece?

Absolutely! We can create a Soundslice video tutorial for you.

This song is played on a 5-string bass but I only have a 4-string bass. Can you help me?

Yes! We can adapt any song to your bass, just let us know beforehand 🙂

How do you transcribe music? Do you use a transcription software?

We transcribe and arrange music by ear, manually typing it into our music notation software note-by-note. This is a detailed and thorough process. We do not use any music transcription software because it delivers poor results and at My Sheet Music Transcriptions, we strive to provide a world-class transcription service.

All of our transcribers are professional musicians who take pride in their craft.

Who are you?

We are a team of 40+ professional musicians, transcribers, arrangers, and composers. Our headquarters are in Barcelona, where we started our journey, but we now work with musicians from all around the world – mainly across the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe – with a strong presence in New York and London! Our mission is to spread music globally through customized transcriptions and arrangements.

We have been growing since 2011, and have completed more than 32,000 transcriptions so far. We believe a friendly customer service and a talented group of music transcribers is the best way to provide you with the sheet music you have always wanted.

Who do you usually work for?

We have an extensive and diverse clientele: from original composers and songwriters who want their music transcribed to music lovers who want to play their favorite songs but cannot find the sheet music online, and gigging musicians who don’t have the time to create their sheet music themselves.

Our work ranges from big projects with orchestras, bands, musicals, and schools to individual projects, with both professional and amateur musicians.

What we all have in common is that music is our passion 🙂
