Frequently asked questions

Elton John

Can you transcribe this complex solo note-for-note?

Yes, we can! Nevertheless, we also recommend a different option for solos that will help you increase and develop your music creativity: we write the chord symbols of the solo so you have the harmonic base, and you can improvise your own solo from there!

If I want a piano solo transcription but I do not need the solo – is this cheaper?

Yes, the solo part is usually the most challenging to transcribe. If you want us to leave it out of the transcription, this will help bring down the cost of the transcription.

I want to play and sing this song but I don’t like the originally key because it has a lot of accidentals. Can you change it?

Yes, please let us know in which key would you like us to transcribe it and we will do it at no extra cost. The easiest keys to play in the piano are C and A minor because they have no accidentals.

How long does it take to transcribe a 5-minute Elton John piece?

Elton has made thousands of songs throughout his career and he has worked on different styles, from pop to rock. A pop song like “Your Song” can take about three hours to transcribe and “Crocodile Rock” or similar pieces can take from 7 to 9 hours to transcribe! His live performances are usually the most complicated to work on.

If I am an amateur piano player will I be able to play Elton John’s music?

Elton John is a proficient piano player and some of his solos are very challenging to play. The level of complexity varies from studio performances to live performances. Also, we provide 100% customized transcriptions so we could simplify the piano transcription so it fits your playing level.

I am a songwriter and I want you to transcribe my music. Who will own the sheet music?

If we transcribe your original music, we will not withhold any rights on the transcriptions. The scores provided will belong to you – you can distribute, share, and sell them as you wish.

How do you transcribe music? Do you use a transcription software?

We transcribe and arrange music by ear, manually typing it into our music notation software note-by-note. This is a detailed and thorough process. We do not use any music transcription software because it delivers poor results and at My Sheet Music Transcriptions, we strive to provide a world-class transcription service.

All of our transcribers are professional musicians who take pride in their craft.

Who are you?

We are a team of 40+ professional musicians, transcribers, arrangers, and composers. Our headquarters are in Barcelona, where we started our journey, but we now work with musicians from all around the world – mainly across the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe – with a strong presence in New York and London! Our mission is to spread music globally through customized transcriptions and arrangements.

We have been growing since 2011, and have completed more than 32,000 transcriptions so far. We believe a friendly customer service and a talented group of music transcribers is the best way to provide you with the sheet music you have always wanted.

Who do you usually work for?

We have an extensive and diverse clientele: from original composers and songwriters who want their music transcribed to music lovers who want to play their favorite songs but cannot find the sheet music online, and gigging musicians who don’t have the time to create their sheet music themselves.

Our work ranges from big projects with orchestras, bands, musicals, and schools to individual projects, with both professional and amateur musicians.

What we all have in common is that music is our passion 🙂
