Frequently asked questions

Orchestration Services

Can you transcribe a full orchestra piece?

Yes! We have professional transcribers and orchestrators on our team who are experts in big ensembles and orchestral music.

Which instruments can be included?

All the instruments you need can be included. Just let us know your exact instrumental lineup and we’ll take care of the rest!

How much does an orchestra transcription cost?

Our prices depend on the length and complexity of the music. When evaluating the price of an orchestral transcription, we listen out for the speed, number of instruments, density of notes, rhythmic and harmonic complexity, and repeats. Send us a link or audio file of the solo you want us to transcribe and we’ll send you an accurate price quote.

You can find some more pricing information here.

Do you send individual parts?

Yes, definitely! In the price quote, we will include both options: full score only, or full score + individual parts.

Is there a limit to the number instruments you can transcribe?

No. We offer a 100%-customized service and we will include all the instruments you need.

I would like my students to play this pop piece at the high school orchestra. Can we adapt it?

Yes! Feel free to tell us how you want the piece arranged. You can specify things like lead melody instruments, solos, playing levels, etc. You can also send us an example of a piece you have already played so that we can match the complexity level.

Don’t forget to send us your exact instrument lineup. We’ll make sure the arrangement is 100% customized!

What about the transposing instruments?

We will transcribe all transposing instruments in playing pitch so that they can play comfortably. (If you need the score in concert pitch, we can do that too. Just let us know.)

Does the price change if I reduce or increase the number of instruments?

Yes, it does. To ensure that we provide you with the best price quote please let us know your exact instrument lineup (for example: Flute 1, Flute 2, Oboe 1, Oboe 2, etc.)

I have composed an orchestral piece but I need your help completing it. Is this something you do?

Indeed! Send us any details and indications we need to be aware of so our team can make sure to provide you with an arrangement that matches your expectations.

Can you make an orchestral arrangement of a song that is not originally played with an orchestra?

Certainly! We can arrange any song (from any musical style) for orchestra.

If you have any creative preferences, let us know. For example: if you want to have a flute solo, let us know.

Can you make a piano reduction so we can practice with our pianist?

Yes, definitely. We can create piano reductions for you to use in rehearsals of choir + orchestra productions or musicals. You can see our Piano page for more details.

We will also have a choir singing with the orchestra. Can you transcribe it too?

Yes! We can also transcribe music for choir and we’ll make sure it fits perfectly into the orchestral score.

I've written a piano piece and I would like an orchestral version of it. Can you do it?

Certainly! We can arrange your original music for orchestra. Let us know if you have any creative preferences and our experts will do the rest 🙂

I don't know how to read sheet music very well. Can you help me?

Yes, we’re here to help! Here are some of the things we can do:

  • Create a Synthesia (piano only) or Soundslice (any instrument) tutorial for you.
  • Simplify the piece to suit your level.
  • Add fingering suggestions in the most complex passages of the score to help you learn the piece.
  • Add educational large noteheads with note names.

Overall, how does it work?

1. You request a quote – Send us the music you want us to transcribe (an audio file or a Youtube link!) and give us all relevant information: instruments, timestamps, difficulty, and arrangement details.

I need a transcription done urgently. Can you help me?

I am a songwriter and I want you to transcribe my music. Who will own the sheet music?

If we transcribe your original music, we will not withhold any rights on the transcriptions. The scores provided will belong to you – you can distribute, share, and sell them as you wish.

How do you transcribe music? Do you use a transcription software?

We transcribe and arrange music by ear, manually typing it into our music notation software note-by-note. This is a detailed and thorough process. We do not use any music transcription software because it delivers poor results and at My Sheet Music Transcriptions, we strive to provide a world-class transcription service.

All of our transcribers are professional musicians who take pride in their craft.

Who are you?

We are a team of 40+ professional musicians, transcribers, arrangers, and composers. Our headquarters are in Barcelona, where we started our journey, but we now work with musicians from all around the world – mainly across the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe – with a strong presence in New York and London! Our mission is to spread music globally through customized transcriptions and arrangements.

We have been growing since 2011, and have completed more than 32,000 transcriptions so far. We believe a friendly customer service and a talented group of music transcribers is the best way to provide you with the sheet music you have always wanted.

Who do you usually work for?

We have an extensive and diverse clientele: from original composers and songwriters who want their music transcribed to music lovers who want to play their favorite songs but cannot find the sheet music online, and gigging musicians who don’t have the time to create their sheet music themselves.

Our work ranges from big projects with orchestras, bands, musicals, and schools to individual projects, with both professional and amateur musicians.

What we all have in common is that music is our passion 🙂
