Being one of the most relevant pianists of the 20th Century, we work on Oscar Peterson’s piano sheet music transcriptions on a daily basis.
Up to now, we have worked on around 25 piano sheet music transcriptions by Oscar Peterson. Peterson’s very complex yet very rich piano compositions and jazz standards interpretations are widely famous and one of our most demanded services. Those piano performances dating from the 1960s and the 1970s mirrored some of his greatest jazz influences such as Tatum or Rachmaninoff and his harmonizations are especially popular. Oscar Peterson is a very challenging pianist to transcribe. He was one of the most skilled, fast, and virtuoso jazz pianists and there are a lot of notes to write down. His main characteristics are fast and agile licks and ornamentation on the right hand while playing large chords or stride patterns on the left hand.

Frequently asked questions

Oscar Peterson

Can you transcribe this complex solo note-for-note?

Yes, we can! Nevertheless, we also recommend a different option for solos that will help you increase and develop your music creativity: we write the chord symbols of the solo so you have the harmonic base, and you can improvise your own solo from there!

If I want a piano jazz solo transcription but I do not need the solo – is this cheaper?

Yes, the solo part is usually the most challenging to transcribe. If you want us to leave it out of the transcription, this will help bring down the cost of the transcription.

I want to play and sing this song but I don’t like the originally key because it has a lot of accidentals. Can you change it?

Yes, please let us know in which key would you like us to transcribe it and we will do it at no extra cost. The easiest keys to play in the piano are C and A minor because they have no accidentals.

What is the difference between a piano jazz solo transcription and a jazz trio transcription?

When we make a transcription of a piano jazz solo, we transcribe a tune that has been interpreted by only a jazz pianist. In the case of the piano jazz triowe have two options: transcribe the piano as played, or create an arrangement of the three instruments of the trio for one piano.

How much for a very complex Oscar Peterson solo?

Jazz transcriptions are complex, and Peterson’s music is definitely challenging because it takes a lot of time and the prices might be higher than usual. We have a lot of experience and we have worked on several Peterson’s jazz transcriptions and the result will surely meet your expectations.

How do you transcribe music? Do you use a transcription software?

We transcribe and arrange music by ear, manually typing it into our music notation software note-by-note. This is a detailed and thorough process. We do not use any music transcription software because it delivers poor results and at My Sheet Music Transcriptions, we strive to provide a world-class transcription service.

All of our transcribers are professional musicians who take pride in their craft.

Who are you?

We are a team of 40+ professional musicians, transcribers, arrangers, and composers. Our headquarters are in Barcelona, where we started our journey, but we now work with musicians from all around the world – mainly across the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe – with a strong presence in New York and London! Our mission is to spread music globally through customized transcriptions and arrangements.

We have been growing since 2011, and have completed more than 32,000 transcriptions so far. We believe a friendly customer service and a talented group of music transcribers is the best way to provide you with the sheet music you have always wanted.

Who do you usually work for?

We have an extensive and diverse clientele: from original composers and songwriters who want their music transcribed to music lovers who want to play their favorite songs but cannot find the sheet music online, and gigging musicians who don’t have the time to create their sheet music themselves.

Our work ranges from big projects with orchestras, bands, musicals, and schools to individual projects, with both professional and amateur musicians.

What we all have in common is that music is our passion 🙂
