Frequently asked questions

Vocal Ensemble Transcriptions

I sing in a choir and we would like to sing this song. Can you adapt it for us?

Yes! Let us your vocal set-up (SATB, SSATB, SSA, etc.) and we will adapt the song to suit you perfectly!

You can also let us know how easy or complex you want the arrangement to be. Feel free to send us examples of other arrangements you enjoy singing.

Is there a limit to the number of voices you can transcribe?

No, there is no limit! We will provide you with 100% customized transcriptions that will include as many voices as needed.

We also have experience transcribing complex a capella vocal arrangements with 6-8 voices – you can ask us to see samples of these 🙂

Do you add the lyrics?

Of course! We can give you different pricing options for transcribing the piece with or without lyrics. You can choose the option that suits you best 🙂

I want to sing this song with my vocal group/choir but the original is too high/low. Can you change the key?

Absolutely! Let us know what key you want it in and we’ll transpose it to suit your voices perfectly! If you’re not sure, we can send you a couple of transpositions in nearby keys so that you can try them and find the best one. We include up to 3 free transpositions with every order!

If you already have the sheet music and would just need a transposition, we have a specialized transposing service for just that!

Can you add a simple piano accompaniment or chord symbols for rehearsing purposes?

Indeed! We can a add simple, easy-to-read piano accompaniment for you to use during rehearsals.

If you prefer chord symbols, we can add those too!

Can you create a beautiful piano accompaniment for our vocal ensemble/choir song?

Certainly! Our professional piano transcribers can create a charming piano accompaniment for your song 🙂 You can see more details on our Piano Transcription Service here.

I would like to sing this song with my choir but the original song has 5 voices and we have only 4. Can you adapt it for us?

Definitely! We will condense the 5 voices into 4, making sure the arrangement stays true to the original.

Can you transcribe this song in a traditional 'hymnal format' with two staves and stacked lyrics?

Shure thing! Just let us know beforehand 🙂

I have an SATB choir piece that I would like you to transcribe. If you write it on two staves (SA and TB), is it cheaper?

No, it will be the same price as if we write it in four staves (S,A,T,B). In fact, if the piece is too complex, it might be cheaper to write it out in four staves as that requires less layout and formatting work.

In which languages can you add lyrics?

We can add lyrics in English, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese, German, Russian, Catalan and JapaneseFor any other language, if you send us the hyphenated lyrics, we can certainly add them too! Here’s an example of hyphenation: hy-phen-at-ed lyr-ics. (The lyrics should be romanized if the language uses a different script)

I am a songwriter and I want you to transcribe my music. Who will own the sheet music?

If we transcribe your original music, we will not withhold any rights on the transcriptions. The scores provided will belong to you – you can distribute, share, and sell them as you wish.

How do you transcribe music? Do you use a transcription software?

We transcribe and arrange music by ear, manually typing it into our music notation software note-by-note. This is a detailed and thorough process. We do not use any music transcription software because it delivers poor results and at My Sheet Music Transcriptions, we strive to provide a world-class transcription service.

All of our transcribers are professional musicians who take pride in their craft.

Who are you?

We are a team of 40+ professional musicians, transcribers, arrangers, and composers. Our headquarters are in Barcelona, where we started our journey, but we now work with musicians from all around the world – mainly across the US, Canada, Australia, and Europe – with a strong presence in New York and London! Our mission is to spread music globally through customized transcriptions and arrangements.

We have been growing since 2011, and have completed more than 32,000 transcriptions so far. We believe a friendly customer service and a talented group of music transcribers is the best way to provide you with the sheet music you have always wanted.

Who do you usually work for?

We have an extensive and diverse clientele: from original composers and songwriters who want their music transcribed to music lovers who want to play their favorite songs but cannot find the sheet music online, and gigging musicians who don’t have the time to create their sheet music themselves.

Our work ranges from big projects with orchestras, bands, musicals, and schools to individual projects, with both professional and amateur musicians.

What we all have in common is that music is our passion 🙂
